Rothbury

In the sun-soaked city of Brisbane, three friends are proving that the most powerful worship doesn’t always require a cathedral. Rothbury, an all-girl trio born and bred in Australia, has arrived with a sound that feels like an open invitation into their lives. Their newest project captures a glimpse of their journeys with friendship, dreams, and relationships with God.

Journey with Faith

The songs on their new EP, Little Big Dreaming, began as what the band calls "long-winded conversations" about life and faith. For this trio, the music is a direct reflection of their individual and collective journeys with God. They describe the songwriting process as something that happens naturally when they are simply doing life together. Because they are so close, the lyrics often spill out effortlessly as an extension of the things they are already discussing.

Little Big Bond

This conversational approach is a major part of their creative identity. Instead of starting with a complex production or a catchy melody, the group usually starts with a single big idea or a theme from their daily talks. They then shape the chords and the imagery around that core message. This process allows the listener to peer into their world and feel the vulnerability behind the music.

The title track, "Little Big Dreaming," is a standout favorite for all three members. It carries a message of hope and longing that they all feel deeply. While they draw musical inspiration from harmonically rich artists like Fleet Foxes, Hozier, and Tiny Habits, their primary motivation is their faith. They have a quiet confidence in the faithfulness of God, and they use their music as a way to boast about Him to anyone who will listen.

Even their time in the studio reflects this bond. They fondly remember their first recording setup in a home studio where they tracked all their vocals in a single day. They prefer to record together at the same time to catch the natural energy of their voices in the room. Even though they had to scatter themselves around the studio to keep the microphones from picking up too much bleed, that raw connection is what makes their harmonies feel so authentic.

From Brisbane and the Heart

Though they haven't started touring just yet, it is a big goal on their bucket list. For now, they are enjoying performing local gigs in Brisbane where they can share the personal stories behind every track. Their advice for other artists is simple and encouraging. They believe in writing as much as possible and letting every song be an overflow of whatever is currently in your heart.
