Setup is really simple. The W3 Sender needs power and an audio input (either USB audio or audio into the mini-jack input on the end of the Sender). The W3 Receiver also needs power and a place to send the audio to, such as Audioengine 5+ powered speakers or any audio system.
There are many ways to use the W3 Premium Wireless Audio Adapter. Some possible configurations are listed here and a few specific examples are shown in the Configuration section. These are by no means all the possible uses - they are just shown to give ideas for your own setup.
Shown here are examples of some common W3 wireless configurations and setup instructions for each:
Note: If using Audioengine 5+ (A5+) powered speakers the A5+ USB power port can be used to power the W3 Receiver.
- Connect the W3 Sender to your computer's USB port.
- For PC wait for the USB audio connection to be detected. For Mac OS, open System Preferences/Sound, select Output, then select “Audioengine W3”.
- Connect the W3 Receiver to the included power adapter and plug the adapter into a power outlet.
- Connect a mini-jack or RCA audio cable from the W3 Receiver to your powered speaker’s audio input.
- The status indicators on the Sender and Receiver will blink briefly and then go solid, indicating that they are paired.
- Play your music!
Note: If using W3 for USB computer audio there is no need to connect an audio cable from the W3 Sender to your computer's headphone output. Doing so may create a ground loop resulting in unwanted noise.
- Follow steps 1 thru 3 above.
- Connect the included RCA “Y” adapter interface cable to the W3 Receiver audio output.
- Connect an RCA cable (not included) from your stereo receiver's RCA inputs to the RCA “Y” adapter.
- The status indicators on the Sender and Receiver will blink briefly and then go solid, indicating that they are paired.
- Play your music!
Note: If you have Audioengine 5+ powered speakers, you may use the built-in USB power/charge port on the A5+ to power the W3 Receiver. Otherwise, you can use an iPhone charger or purchase an extra Audioengine power adapter.
- Connect the included mini-jack cable from your iDevice to the W3 Sender audio input.
- Connect the W3 Sender to the included power adapter and plug the adapter into a power outlet.
- Connect the included mini-jack cable from the W3
- Connect the W3 Receiver to another power adapter (1 power adapter is included, others sold separately).
- Plug the power adapter into an AC outlet.
- The status indicators on the Sender and Receiver will blink briefly and then go solid, indicating that they are paired.
- Play your music!
- Connect the W3 Sender and W3 Receiver to power adapters and plug each into a power outlet.
- Connect your surround sound AV receiver’s rear channel (or subwoofer) RCA outputs to the W3 Sender input.
- Connect the W3 Receiver to your powered rear channel speakers (or subwoofer).
- The status indicators on the Sender and Receiver will blink briefly and then go solid, indicating that they are paired.
- Play your music!
Note: To set up wireless rear channel speakers AND a wireless subwoofer from your surround system, simply add another W3 Sender/Receiver pair and repeat the previous instructions.

Step 1 - Placement
Set the N22 amplifier on a solid surface and make sure there is plenty of ventilation and space around the amplifier top and bottom. The integrated stand is not designed to be removed as the N22 uses a passive convection system for heat dissipation. Keeping your N22 upright with the stand attached is important for optimal ventilation and to keep your N22 running cool.
Step 2 - Connecting the Speaker Wire
The N22 is a stereo power amplifier that will power one pair of passive speakers between 4 and 8 ohms. To connect N22 to your speakers you will need 2-conductor stranded speaker wire, which is included. The N22 uses high quality, ve-way gold plated binding posts that will accept heavy gauge bare wire, banana plugs, spade lugs, or pin terminators. If you use your own speaker wire we recommend using at least 16 gauge wire and using the same length of wire from the amplifier to each speaker. It's also a
good idea to turn off your amplifier before connecting power, audio sources or speakers.
Preparing the Speaker Wire
- Separate the last 3” of each speaker wire conductor.
- Strip ½” of insulation from the end of each wire.
- Twist the exposed copper strands with your fingers 3 or 4 times so the strands stay together.
Note: As you make your connections, be sure to connect the positive (+) terminals on your amplifier to the positive (+) terminals on your speakers. Even if your wire does not have (+) or (-) markings, most 2-conductor speaker wire has printing on one side to help you differentiate between the wire pairs.
If you are Using Bare Wire
- Use your thumb and finger to unscrew the binding post connectors on the back of each speaker.
- Insert each speaker wire into the holes on the side of the binding post connectors, observing proper polarity.
- Retighten the binding posts with your fingers.
- The stripped portion of the wire should be secured firmly in each connector.
- Make sure that none of the speaker wire strands have come in contact with an adjoining terminal.
- Repeat steps 1 and 5 to connect speaker wires to the amplifier.
Step 3 – Connecting the Power Supply
Be sure that the volume/power switch on the front panel is in the OFF position by rotating it counterclockwise until you hear a click.
Connect the cable with the round end from the power supply to the N22 rear panel power connector. Note that this connector is “keyed” so line up the arrow on the cable end with the arrow on the rear panel. Please do not use excessive force on the connector and use only the power supply provided with the amplifier.
Connect the AC power cable from the power supply to a power outlet and verify that the indicator light on the power supply is illuminated. We recommend using a high-quality surge suppressor and/or AC line lter on all electronics equipment.
Step 4 – Connecting Audio Sources
Using the appropriate audio cable (3.5" mini-jack and/or RCA cable), connect your audio source (computer, iPod, etc.) to the N22 audio inputs. One of each cable type is included with your amplifier.
Step 5 – Operation
Turn on the N22 volume/power knob and set the volume control to an initial setting of about 3 o’clock. The front panel power indicator will be illuminated. Turn on your audio input source and adjust the volume to your desired listening level.
Note that both audio inputs on the N22 are active so two audio sources may be connected to the amplifier at the same time without the need for an input switch. We recommend using the volume control on each audio source to adjust the overall system volume.

Step 1 - Speaker Placement
Although your Audioengine 5+ speakers are very forgiving with regards to placement, it’s true that proper speaker placement can have an impact on sound quality. There seem to be different theories on correct speaker placement but rooms and tastes are different so it’s difficult to recommend a perfect setup. We do suggest you feel free to experiment to see what works for you. As a general rule of thumb for the best soundstage and imaging, the speakers should be equidistant from side walls and a different distance from rear walls. Tweeters should be at about eye-level in your most frequent listening location and for the best bass response we recommend at least 6 inches of clearance between the rear of the speakers and the wall behind them. Here are a few more suggestions, assuming you have some exibility regarding where you place your speakers. No need for concern if your situation and listening environment dictate the speakers’ position.
• Both speakers should be equidistant from your primary listening position.
• Placing the speakers at least 6 feet (1.8m) apart usually provides the best imaging.
• Try to keep the speakers near the front edge of shelves or cabinets.
• Allow at least 6 inches of clearance between the rear of the speakers and the wall or surface behind them.
• If you need to turn the speakers on their sides, position the tweeters toward the outside.
• If used on a desktop for computer speakers, it’s best if they are placed on a solid surface
Step 2 - Connecting the Speaker Wire
The Audioengine 5+ speakers have amplifiers built into the left cabinet and the included speaker wire is used to connect both speakers to each other. The A5+ uses high quality, ve-way gold plated binding posts that will accept heavy gauge bare wire, banana plugs, spade lugs, or pin terminators.
1) Use your thumb and finger to unscrew the binding post connectors on the back of each speaker.
2) Insert each speaker wire into the holes on the side of binding post connectors, making sure to connect the positive (+) terminal on the left speaker to the positive (+) terminal on the right speaker.
3) Retighten the binding posts with your ngers.
4) Verify that only the exposed portion of the speaker wire is secured rmly in each connector.
5) Make sure that none of the speaker wire strands have come in contact with an adjoining terminal.
Note:
As the Audioengine 5+ speaker system includes built-in power amplifiers, do not connect the speaker terminals to the speaker outputs of a stereo receiver or amplifier.
Step 3 – Connecting the Power Cord
1. Verify that the power switch on the left speaker rear panel is in the OFF position.
2. Conrm that the rear panel voltage selector switch is set to the proper voltage for your area.
3. Connect the power cord into the left speaker and the other end into an AC power outlet.
Note:We recommend using a high-quality surge suppressor and/or AC line filter on all electronics equipment.Step 4 – Connecting Audio CablesUsing the appropriate audio cable (3.5” mini-jack and/or RCA cable), connect your audio source (computer, iPod, etc.) to the A5+ audio inputs. One of each cable type is included.Note:Both audio inputs on the A5+ are active so two audio sources may be connected to the speakers at the same time without the need for an input switch.
Step 5 – Operation
1. Move the A5+ rear panel power switch to the ON position. The left speaker front panel power indicator should ash a few times then go solid.
2. Turn on your audio input source and adjust the volume to the desired listening level.
3. Adjust the A5+ speaker volume level with the volume knob on the front panel or with the included remote control.
